FAQ
Questions you might have.
What Albireus does, which tools it can replace, how accurate transcription is, how documents link, and whether you can take your data with you.
01Who is Albireus for?
Anyone with a lot of document work: students taking lecture and reading notes, researchers doing interviews and fieldwork, and people and teams who make presentations and keep meeting minutes. Docs, notes, slides, databases and transcription live in one place, so you don't jump between apps.
02Which tools can Albireus replace?
If you keep several tools open at once, Albireus can bring them into one place: a typed notes app, a handwriting app, whiteboard and presentation tools, the spreadsheet you use to keep lists, and a transcription service. In Albireus they are different files in one workspace, so they can link to each other and AI can work across them. If you need complex formulas and pivot tables, or professional print layout, dedicated software is still the better fit — everything in Albireus exports, so they work side by side.
03What can the AI assistant do?
Turn transcripts into docs, summarise or rewrite a passage, answer questions across your docs and transcripts with sources, generate slide layouts on the canvas from your content, and suggest older documents worth linking. You decide whether to add a suggested link, and your documents are never used to train models.
04How accurate is Taiwanese transcription?
Turn on Taiwanese mode on the transcription page and a recogniser tuned for Taiwanese is used; Mandarin and mixed Mandarin–English work in the default mode. Taiwanese has no single standard spelling, and accents and recording quality affect results, so add names, places and jargon to your vocabulary list first and proofread against the audio afterwards.
05What does “click back to the original audio” mean?
Every line of a transcript has a timestamp. Click a line and the player jumps to that second, so you can listen again before you rely on it.
06How do the canvas and presentations relate?
The canvas is infinite, and a presentation is the frames on it. Arrange docs, notes, images and sticky notes, order the frames and play them — or export to PPTX. Stuck on a layout? Ask AI to design it from your content.
07Can notes, canvases and databases link to each other too?
Yes. Docs, notes, canvases and databases share one workspace; any of them can be linked to, and all of them show up in backlinks and the graph. Typing [[ in a doc links to any file; canvases and notes have simpler ways to link out, but other files can always link to them.
08What are two-way links?
In a doc, type [[ and pick a document to create a link. The linked document lists it as a backlink automatically, so you know not only what this document mentions, but what mentions it. All links are drawn in the graph.
09Will AI link suggestions change my documents?
No. AI compares documents by meaning and lists possibly related older ones beside the document, with a reason for each; you decide whether to add the link. The graph can also show documents with similar meaning.
10Can I export my data?
Yes. Docs export as Markdown (with properties), PDF, Word or plain text; transcripts as TXT, SRT or VTT; notes as PDF or images; presentations as PPTX. You can also import existing .md files. Your data is always yours to take.
11Are my recordings and documents used to train models?
No. Recordings, transcripts and documents are visible only to you and the people you share with, and are never used for training. See “AI and data” for the details.
12Can I paste a video link?
Yes. The transcription page accepts video links, and you can upload audio and video files from your computer.
13Which interface languages are available?
The interface is available in over 40 languages including Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. It automatically matches your browser language on your first visit, and can also be changed in Settings.
14Where is my data stored?
You sign in with Google. How data is stored and used is described in the privacy policy; the terms of service govern the details.
15Can I use it with other people?
Yes. Create or join a team and pin documents to its channels so everyone reads the same copy.
16Do I have to install anything?
No — it works in your browser. You can also install it as an app and keep editing synced documents offline.
17How does billing work?
The Free plan costs nothing. Plus is US$5, Pro US$20 and Ultra US$60 a month; yearly is 10 × monthly. Prices exclude tax, which is added at checkout based on your location; the plans page shows an approximate amount in your currency. Payments are handled by Paddle.com (our reseller), which emails your receipts. One-time point packs are also available (US$5 / 20 / 60).
18How do I cancel?
Use “Manage subscription” on the plans page, or the “Manage subscription” link in your Paddle receipt. No further charges are made; your plan keeps working until the period ends, then returns to Free.
19Can I get a refund?
One-off purchases and the first payment of a subscription can be refunded within 14 days of payment; later renewals generally aren't refunded. See the Refund Policy or email support@albireus.com.
